EMPEROR OF NUTS: INTERSECTIONS ACROSS CULTURES -a collection of short stories
As the title suggest, this is a collection of stories about cultural membranes--those edges, margins, and peripheries, across which, people try to interact, transact, fall in love, or simply communicate. This is first person fiction, written in the voices of people I've met during my travels in Korea, Vietnam, China, Myanmar, Malaysia, Iran, and Kuwait, people whose job it is to deal with visitors like me: gatekeepers, explainers, tour guides, desk clerks, beggars, the people that anthropology calls "half-way people" individuals with one foot in my culture, and another in their own.
